Indira Ekadashi fast story

Lord Shri Krishna Dharmaraja tells Yudhishthira the importance of Indira Ekadashi and says that this Ekadashi is the destroyer of all sinful deeds and by observing this Ekadashi fasting, the fasting people also liberate their fathers. Hey Rajan, I am going to tell you the story of Indira Ekadashi. Hearing this, you will get results similar to Vajpayee Yajna.

Explaining the essence of the future, God says that it is a matter of the Golden Age. In the city called Mahishmati, a king named Indrasen lived. The king was very religious and the subjects were also very happy with him. All his religious works were done well. One day it happens that Narada ji reaches Indrasen's court. Indrasen salutes him and asks him the reason for coming. Then Narada ji says that I have come with the message of your father, who in his previous birth, is facing punishment with Yamraj due to the fast of Ekadashi. Now Indrasen got distraught after hearing his father's anguish and asked Devarshi, O Munivar, tell me some remedy so that my father can get salvation. Then Devarshi said that Rajan, you keep fast on Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Ashwin month and donate the virtue of this fast in your father's name, your father will get freedom from it. After this, Indrasen on Ashwin Krishna Ekadashi followed Ekadashi fast according to the measures given by Narada ji, which brought peace to his father's soul and after death his father also attained salvation.
