Nirjala Ekadasi~

Nirjala Ekadashi is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, so all the pujas performed on this day are dedicated to him and his worship. Nirjala means waterless and according to the Hindu calendar, Nirjala Ekadashi is celebrated on the eleventh lunar day of the long section of Jyestha (June-July). On Nirjala Ekadashi, a waterless fast is observed and it is observed as an extremely auspicious day according to Hindus. Devotees follow the fast religiously and say that it is the most harsh fast. On this day, some communities also manage chabal (sweet mixture of water and milk).

Importance of Nirjala Ekadashi:

Nirjala Ekadashi is the most prosperous Ekadashi of Hindus. This Ekadashi is very auspicious and it provides prosperity, bliss, longevity and salvation. The importance of Nirjala Ekadashi was made clear by the great man ‘Vyasa’. It is believed that the Nirjala Ekadashi fast signifies the joining of different Ekadashis. Once in the Mahabharata period, Pandu's son Bhima asked Maharishi Veda Vyas ji - "O supreme reverend Muni! All the people of my family keep fasting for Ekadashi and ask me to fast. But I cannot starve, So please tell me how you can get the fruits of Ekadashi without fasting. ''

On Bhima's repeated saying, Ved Vyas Ji said- "Son, you fast on Nirjala Ekadashi, this fast is kept on the festival of Nirjala Ekadashi." On this day both food and water have to be sacrificed. Whoever lives without water from the sunrise of Ekadashi date to the sunrise of Dwadashi date and keeps the Nirjala fast with true devotion, he gets the fruits of all the Ekadashi of the year together by observing the fast of this Ekadashi. .
