रक्षाबंधन भाईचारे का प्रतीक माना जाता है, दुनिया भर में उत्साह से मनाया जाता है, जिसमें प्यार और स्नेह की किरणें खिलती हैं। राखी का त्यौहार न केवल राखी बांधने का एक समारोह है, बल्कि इससे प्यार और विश्वास में वृद्धि होती है, एक लड़की अपने भाइयों की कलाई पर राखी बांधकर उम्मीद करती है कि यह हाथ एक रक्षक के रूप में हमेशा उसके जीवन के हर उतार-चढ़ाव में उसकी रक्षा करेगा।
रक्षा बंधन पर्व : हिंदू विक्रमी संवत कैलेंडर के अनुसार राखी का त्यौहार श्रावण महीने की पूर्णिमा को मनाया जाता है। जो अंग्रेजी कैलेंडर के अनुसार जुलाई अगस्त के महीने में होता है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार, रक्षा बंधन भद्रा (अशुभ), श्रावानी और फाल्गुनी नक्षत्र के समय में नहीं मनाया जाना चाहिए। एक पौराणिक धारणा के अनुसार, श्रावण नक्षत्र में राजा का राज्याभिषेक और फाल्गुनी नक्षत्र में राखी अथवा रक्षासूत्र का बांधना, जनता के लिए सबसे बुरा और हानिकारक होता है। इसलिए, जब राखी बांधते है तो समय शुभ है ये ध्यान रखना महत्वपूर्ण है। रक्षा बंधन हिंदी विक्रम संवत कैलेंडर के अनुसार मनाया जाता है, जोकि प्रत्येक वर्ष एक अलग अंग्रेजी तिथि को होता है, इसलिए त्योहार भी अंग्रेजी कैलेंडर की विभिन्न तिथियों पर पड़ता है।
वह व्यक्ति, जो इस त्योहार को मनाना चाहता है, उसे सुबह जल्दी उठकर स्नान करके के बाद नए कपड़े पहनने चाहिए। इसके पश्च्यात, परिवार को देवताओ की पूजा करनी चाहिए, फिर राखी की भी पूजा करनी चाहिए। अपने पूर्वजों को याद करे और बुजुर्गों का आशीर्वाद लें। सभी भाई रक्षाबंधन उत्सव के अद्भुद क्षणों को अनुभव करने के लिए तैयार हो जाते हैं और जब आप अद्भुत अविश्वसनीय उपहारों के द्वारा अपनी बहन को आश्चर्यचकित करते हैं तो बहने खुशी से पागल सी हो जाती है।
राखी के रूप में एक रंगीन धागा भी लिया जा सकता है। यह धागा रेशम का भी हो सकता है। सोने, केसर, चंदन, अक्षत और दूर्वा घास धागे पर रखा जाता है, और पूजा की जाती है। पूजा करते समय, व्यक्ति को पूरी तरह से पूजा पर ध्यान देना चाहिए, चाहे जिस भी समय, वह इसमें बैठा है। राखी (धागे) की पूजा करने के बाद, भाई को केसर, रोली और अक्षत का उपयोग करके टीका (माथे पर शुभ चिह्न) बहनो द्वारा लगाया जाता है। तिलक के बाद राखी दाएं हाथ पर बाँधी जाती हैं।
राखी अथवा रक्षा सूत्र बांधने हेतु मंत्र : बहन जब भाई के हाथ में राखी बांधती है तो इस मन्त्र का उच्चारण किया जाता है। येन बद्धो बली राजा दानवेन्द्रो महाबल:। तेन त्वाप्रतिबधनामी रक्षे मा चल मा चल:।।
रक्षा बंधन के समय प्रयोग किये जाने वाले इस मंत्र का अर्थ है कि, मैं आपको उसी तरह से बांधता हूँ। जैसे राक्षसों के राजा महाबली संकल्प से बंधे थे। आप राखी बंधवाने के साथ संकल्प कर रहे हैं, कि आप अपना वादा कभी नहीं भूलेंगे और आप इस संकल्प पर हमेशा के लिए दृढ संकल्पित रहेंगे।
रक्षा बंधन दिवस पर भाई द्वारा प्रार्थना : रक्षा बंधन दिवस पर प्रत्येक भाई को प्रार्थना करनी चाहिए, कि मेरी बहन की सुरक्षा के साथ मुझे मानवता, समाज, राष्ट्र और धर्म की सुरक्षा के लिए भी प्रयास करने है।

About Rakshabandhan Festival: As per the Hindu Vikrami Samvat, Calendar Rakhi festival falls on the Shravan month Purnima (the full moon day), which corresponds to the month of July August as per the English calendar. As per the Scriptures, the Raksha Bandhan should not be celebrated in the Bhadra (inauspicious)time of Shravani and Phalguni Nakshatra. According to a belief, the King Coronation ceremony in Shravan Nakshatra and tying of thread(Rakhi) in Phalguni Nakshatra, is worst and harmful for the public. Hence, while tying Rakhi, it is important to remember the auspiciousness to time. The day is being celebrated as per the Hindi Vikrami Samvat Calendar, which changes every year, hence the festival also falls on the different dates of the English calendar.
Rakshabandhan Celebrations: The person, who wants to celebrate this festival, should take bath early in the morning and wear new clothes. After this, family god should be worship, then, Rakhi is also worship. Remember your ancestors and take the blessing of elders. So all brothers are ready to stand on the threshold of festive moments and see your sister beaming with joy when you surprise her with amazing gifts.
A colored thread can be taken as a Rakhi. This thread also be of Silk. Gold, Saffron, Sandalwood, Akshat and Durva Grass is kept on the thread and worshiped. While worshiping, the person should fully concentrate on Puja, for whatever time, he is sitting in it. After worshiping Rakhi(thread), brother is applied to Tika(auspicious mark on forehead) of Saffron, Roli and Akshat should be used. Rakhi is tied on the right hand.
Mantra to be spoken when Tie the Rakhi : This mantra Chanted when sister ties the rakhi in hand of brother. येन बद्धो बली राजा दानवेन्द्रो महाबल:। तेन त्वाप्रतिबधनामी रक्षे मा चल मा चल।। The meaning of this mantra being used during the day of Raksha Bandhan is says that I will bind you in the same manner as the King of demons Mahabali was bound with the promise. That is, you are holding the promise with Rakhi, so you never forgot your promise and you remain forever on this resolution.
