'मन्नतों का त्यौहार' छठ इस बार 2 नवंबर 2019 को मनाया जाएगा। छठ पर्व षष्ठी का ही स्वरुप है। कार्तिक मास की अमावस्या को दिवाली मनाए जाने के 6 दिन पश्चात कार्तिक शुक्ल के षष्ठी तिथि के मनाए जाने के कारण इसे छठ कहा जाता है। छठ महापर्व चार दिनों का त्यौहार है।


पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार, छठ मईया और सूर्य भगवान् की पूजा एक ही दिन की जाती है। दरअसल, छठ मईया और सूर्य देवता का संबंध भाई-बहन का है। छठ पूजा का प्रचलन पूर्वी भारत में अत्यधिक है। विशेष तौर पर बिहार में सबसे अधिक है लेकिन इसके अलावा पूर्वी उत्तर प्रदेश, झारखंड, दिल्ली और देश के अन्य हिस्सों में भी इस पर्व को बड़े धूमधाम के साथ मनाया जाता है।

लोक आस्था का महापर्व 'छठ' चार दिनों के लिए काफी विशेष होता है। इसमें साफ-सफाई पर खास ध्यान रखा जाता है। ऐसा कथन है कि इस पर्व में गलती की कोई जगह नहीं होती है। इस व्रत को करने के नियम इतने कठिन व् मुश्किल है कि इसे महापर्व के नाम से संबोधित किया जाता है।


मान्यता के अनुसार, छठ देवी सूर्य देवता की बहन हैं। कहा जाता है कि छठ माता बच्चों की रक्षा करने वाली देवी हैं। ऐसी मान्यता है कि इस व्रत का पालन करने से संतान को लंबी आयु का वरदान प्राप्त होता है। मार्कण्डेय पुराण के मुताबिक, सृष्टि की अधिष्ठात्री प्रकृति देवी ने खुद को छह भागों में विभाजित किया है। इनके छठे अंश को सर्वश्रेष्ठ देवी के रूप में माना जाता है। कहा जाता है ये ब्रह्मा की मानस पुत्री हैं।

छठ पूजा में शामिल अनुष्ठान

तीसरा दिन

संध्या अर्घ्य (शाम का प्रसाद): छठ पूजा का तीसरा दिन भी बिना पानी के उपवास के साथ मनाया जाता है और पूरे दिन में पूजा का प्रसाद तैयार किया जाता है। प्रसाद (प्रसाद) बाद में एक बांस की ट्रे में रखा जाता है। प्रसाद में अकुआ, नारियल केला और अन्य मौसमी फल शामिल हैं। तीसरे दिन की संध्या अनुष्ठान किसी नदी या तालाब या किसी स्वच्छ जल निकाय के तट पर होता है। सभी भक्त संध्या काल में सूर्य को अर्घ्य ’प्रदान करते हैं।


चौथा दिन 

बिहनिया अर्घ्य: छठ पूजा के आखिरी दिन, भक्त फिर से नदी या किसी जल निकाय के तट पर इकट्ठा होते हैं और फिर उगते सूर्य को प्रार्थना और प्रसाद चढ़ाते हैं। प्रसाद चढ़ाने के बाद भक्त अदरक और शक्कर या स्थानीय स्तर पर मिलने वाली कोई भी चीज खाकर अपना व्रत खोलते हैं। इन सभी छठ पूजा अनुष्ठानों के बाद इस अद्भुत पर्व का समापन होता है।

Rituals involved in Chhath Puja

Day one 

Nahay Khay: In the first days of Chhath Puja, devotees bathed in the Kosi River, Ganga and Karnali and then after the holy bath, the devotees took holy water to prepare the offerings. It is one of the most important rituals of Chhath Puja on the first day.


Second day

Lohanda or Kharna: On the second day of Chhath Puja, devotees who keep fast for the whole day are involved and end after some time after sunset. The second important ritual of Chhath Puja involves worshipers preparing prasad such as kheer, banana and rice for the family after worshiping the sun and moon. After consuming Prasad, one has to fast for 36 hours without water.


Third Day

Sandhya Arghya (Evening Prasad): The third day of Chhath Puja is also celebrated with fasting without water and a Prasad of worship is prepared throughout the day. Prasad (Prasad) is later placed in a bamboo tray. The offerings include Akua, Coconut Banana and other seasonal fruits. The third day's evening ritual takes place on the banks of a river or pond or a clean water body. All devotees offer Arghya to Sun in the evening.


Fourth day

Bihaniya Arghya: On the last day of Chhath Puja, devotees again gather on the banks of a river or any water body and then offer prayers and offerings to the rising sun. After offering prasad, devotees open their fast by eating ginger and sugar or anything found locally. After all these Chhath Puja rituals this wonderful festival ends.
