The gardener collects flowers from the Mansarovar lake every day and gives them to the king for worshiping Shiva. Mali loved his wife very much. Therefore, one day, he ignores his duties and returns to the wife. He forgot to give flowers to the king. When the king realized that the gardener was spending time with his wife instead of performing his duty of collecting flowers, the king invited the gardener to the court. He apologizes but the king curses him harshly, causing the gardener to suffer from leprosy and has to separate from his wife. The gardener was expelled from the palace, and he suffered from white leprosy. He wandered in the forests for many years. One day he came to the sage Markandeya's ashram. He told his sage. The sage told them to follow Yogini Ekadashi and get rid of dangerous infections. The gardener followed the fast according to the sage's statement and returned to his normal form as a result.
