नारद जयंती को देवऋषि नारद की जन्मदिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है। ऋषि नारद प्रजापतियो और महान सप्तऋषियों में से एक है। देवर्षि नारद भगवान के सर्वश्रेष्ठ भक्तो में से एक माने जाते हैं। श्रद्धालु इन्हे भगवान का मन कहते है। नारद मुनी को संचार का देवता माना जाता है। कुछ पुराणो के अनुसार देवऋषि नारद भगवान ब्रह्मा के माथे से प्रकट हुए थे जबकि विष्णु पुराण के अनुसार वह ऋषि कश्यप के पुत्र है। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि वह पूरी दुनिया में भगवान की भक्ति और भावना के विस्तार के लिये अपनी वीणा की मधुर तान पर भगवद्गुणों का गान करते हुए गायन और सूचना संवाद के माध्यम से लगातार यात्रा करते रहते थे।

श्रद्धालु मानते है कि देवऋषि नारद आज भी भक्तो की सहायता करते रहते हैं और भक्‍तों की बात भगवान तक पहुंचाते हैं, ताकि उनके कष्‍ट का निवारण हो सके। इनके द्वारा प्रणीत भक्तिसूत्र में भगवद भक्ति की अति सुन्दर व्याख्या है। नारद जी ने भक्त प्रह्लाद, भक्त अम्बरीष और ध्रुव आदि भक्तों को ज्ञानोपदेश देकर भगवद प्राप्ति का मार्ग दर्शाया। इनका जीवन विश्व के मंगल के लिये ही है। देवऋषि नारद ज्ञान के स्वरूप, विध्या के भण्डार, आनन्द के सागर तथा सब भूतों के अकारण प्रेमी और विश्व मंगल के हितकारी हैं। हिन्दू संस्कृति के दो बहुमूल्य ग्रंथ रामायण और भागवत के प्रेरक नारद जी का जन्म लोगों को सन्मार्ग और भक्ति के मार्ग पर लाकर, विश्वकल्याण हेतु हुआ था।

ऋग वेद में नारद मुनी के कुछ भजनो के वर्णन हैं। नारदजी को वीणा के साथ एक संन्यासी के रूप में दर्शाया जाता है जो कि एक सकारात्मक सोच के साथ या ब्रह्मांड के उत्थान के लिए ज्ञात रूप से परेशानी उत्पन्न करते हैं। नारद जयंती वैशाख माह (अप्रैल-मई) की पूर्णिमा तिथि (पूर्णिमा दिवस) को मनाया जाता है। देवऋषि नारद को आज के समय अनुसार एक पत्रकार और संचार के अग्रदूत भी कहा जा सकता है।

नारद जयंती को पत्रकारिता दिवस भी कहा जाता है और पूरे देश में इस रूप में मनाया जाता है। देवऋषि नारद को वीणा का आविष्कारक भी माना जाता है और वह गंधर्वों के प्रमुख हैं, जोकि दिव्य संगीतकार थे। उत्तर भारत में इस अवसर पर बौद्धिक बैठकें, सेमिनार और प्रार्थनाएं आयोजित की जाती हैं। नारद जयंती पर्व के माध्यम से पत्रकारों को अपने आदर्शों पालन करने के संकल्प लेकर समाज के लोगों के दृष्टिकोण को व्यापक बनाकर लोक कल्याण के उद्देश्य कि प्राप्ति हेतु कार्य करने चाहिए

Narad Jayanti is observed as the birth anniversary of Devarishi Narad. Devrishi Narad is one of the best devotees of God. Devotees called him Gods heart. Sage Narad is one of the Prajapatis and also one of the great Saptarishis. Narad muni is believed as pioneer of communication. Some Puranas suggests that Sage Narad appeared from the forehead of Lord Brahma whereas some like Vishnu Purana advocated he is the son of Sage Kashyapa.It is said that he used to continuously travel all through the world singing Bhagavad glory songs on the sweet tune of his Veena for the expansion of Gods devotion and glory and also communicating information.

The devotees believe that Devrishi Narad continues to help the devotees even today and communicate the devotees to God so that their suffering can be solved. Devotees in Bhaktisutra have a very beautiful interpretation of devotion. Narad ji showed the path of attaining Bhagavad by giving a scholar to devotees like Bhakta Prahlad, Devotees Ambrishesh and Dhruv etc. His life is only for the wellness world. Devhishi Narada has the face of knowledge, the store of the education, the ocean of joy and the lovers of all ghosts and the well-wisher whole world. The two important books of Hindu culture Ramayana and the Bhagwat are the results of inspiration of Narada Ji, who born to bring people to the path of goodwill and devotion, for the sake of world welfare.

Rig Veda has some hymns accredited to Narada Muni. Naradji is imagined as a sanyasi with a Veena in hand who often create trouble of course with a positive intention or for the betterment of the universe. It is observed on the day after Purnima (full moon day) in Vaishakh month (April – May). Sage Narad is a precursor of modern day journalist and mass communicator.

So the day is also called Patrakarita Diwas and is celebrated in this form across the country. He is believed to be the inventor of Veena. He has been held the chief of the Gandharvas who were the divine musicians. Intellectual meetings, seminars and prayers are held on the occasion in North India. The day appeals the journalists to follow his ideals, broaden their approach to people of the society and aim towards public welfare.
