Raksha Bandhan~रक्षाबंधन in the year 2023 will be celebrated on Wednesday, 30th August, 2023  

Raksha Bandhan has become the cynosure of brotherhood, is celebrated around the world, with the rays of love and affection blooming in it. Rakhi festival is not only a ceremony of tying rakhi but it has moreover transited into the trust and love which a girl ties on her brothers wrist and hope that this hand will always hold her in every ups and downs of life.

About Rakshabandhan Festival : As per the Hindu Vikrami Samvat Calendar Rakhi festival falls on the Shravan month Purnima (the full moon day), which corresponds to the month of July August as per the English calendar. As per the Scriptures, Raksha Bandhan should not be celebrated in the Bhadra (inauspicious) time of Shravani and Phalguni Nakshatra.

According to a belief, King Coronation ceremoney in Shravan Nakshatra and tying of thread (Rakhi) in Phalguni Nakshatra, is worst and harmful for the public. Hence, while tying Rakhi, it is important to remember the auspiciousness to time. The day is being celebrated as per the Hindi Vikrami Samvat Calender, which changes every year, hence the festival also falls on the different dates of the English calendar. 

Rakshabandhan Celebrations : The person, who wants to celebrate this festival, should take bath early in the morning and wear new clothes. After this, family god should be worship, then, Rakhi is also worship. Remember your ancestors and take the blessing of elders. So all brothers be ready to stand on the threshold of festive moments and see your sister beaming with joy when you surprise her with amazing gifts.

A colored thread can be taken as a Rakhi. This thread also be of Silk. Gold, Saffron, Sandalwood, Akshat and Durva Grass is kept on the thread, and worshiped. While worshiping, the person should fully concentrate on Puja, for whatever time, he is sitting in it. After worshiping Rakhi(thread), brother is applied Tika (auspicious mark on forehead) of Saffron, Roli and Akshat should be used. Rakhi is tied on the right hand.

Mantra to be spoken when Tie the Rakhi : This mantra is Chanted at the time of tying the rakhi 

येन बद्धो बलि राजा, दानवेन्द्रो महाबलः। तेन त्वां मनुबध्नामि, रक्षंमाचल माचल।।
